The ridge cap areas of your roof experience more stress than any where else on the roof. The ridge cap area experiences high levels of stress from winds as the wind goes up the sides of the roof and rolls over the ridge area. If the ridge cap areas are not secured properly the wind will lift the edge of the shingle up ripping it from the roof. Another stress that effects the ridge area is the massive expansion and contraction associated with the high heat of Southwest Florida. To combat the problems that face this area of the roof we use a specially designed cap shingle that is made to match the field shingles. Our cap shingles are designed to bend and flex allowing the shingle to mold to the ridge of your home. Many roofing contractors will use a cut piece of a cheap 25 year 3-tab shingles for the ridges. This cut piece will crack when bent to cover the ridges and will not secure soundly to your roof.
