Once the rotted sheathing and fascia has been replaced, it is time to install one of the most critical parts of your roof, the underlayment. With our system the standard underlayment is Polyprotector UDL™. This underlayment differs from all other roofers and is proven to be 40 times stronger and more resistant to leaking than traditional 30lb felt. A good underlayment is crucial, as it is the last line of defense in stopping water from entering your home.
There are also optional upgrades that can be installed on your home such as Enhanced Perimeter Leak Barrier. The Perimeter Leak Barrier is installed around the perimeter of your home and around flashing areas. This step of vital importance, as the flashing areas are the first to show signs of leaking. With the Perimeter Leak Barrier, the rest of the field is covered withPolyprotector UDL™.
Another upgrade that is available is Total Leak Protection. Total Leak Protection is installed to the entire roof area using Polyglass Polystick IR-X Self Adhered Modified Asphalt Rubber Underlayment. Total leak protection is standard on all roofs with a 3:12 pitch or less.
With our standard system we install Polyprotector UDL™ underlayment. When the UDL is nailed to the deck, we use 4 to 5 times more fasteners than are required by the Florida Building Code. The reason behind the extra fasteners is to increase the wind up-lift value of your roof, allowing it to sustain much higher wind gusts, and adding another layer of protection to your home. The Polyprotector UDL™ uses woven technology which will form a polymer seal around the head of the nails, completely sealing the deck from water.
For added protection around the perimeter and flashing areas of your home, we offer an Enhanced Perimeter Leak Barrier upgrade. The Perimeter Leak Barrier keeps moisture from the most sensitive areas of your roof, flashing areas are the first to show signs of leaking. The Enhanced Perimeter Leak Barrier combined with Polyprotector UDL™ will give you the satisfaction of knowing that your roof is totally protected.
For total leak protection we recommend Polyglass Polystick IR-X Rubber Underlayment as a substitute for Polyprotector UDL™. This impressive system will provide years of solid leak protection. On top of the extra protection, this system may help reduce the cost of your homeowner's insurance. Just ask your agent for a Florida Wind Storm Affidavit. We will gladly fill it our and affix our Florida Seal. Many customers that have installed this system have offset the cost of their investment within the first year. Total Leak Protection is standard on roofs with a pitch below 4:12.
